More than learning new instruments

This training is about more than adding new sounds to your practice.

Hand gongs, bells and other resonant metal instruments give us an opportunity to explore some of the subtler skills of sound facilitation — listening closely, responding to what is already happening and becoming more comfortable with space and silence.

Rather than simply learning what to play, we’ll explore when to play, when to wait and how to respond to the sound around you.

Less about playing more. More about listening better.

What we'll do

The day is practical and experiential, with plenty of opportunity to play, listen and explore how these instruments work individually and together.

You’ll explore how to:

  • play hand gongs, bells and other resonant metal instruments with control and confidence

  • develop your listening and awareness when working with sound

  • work more confidently with pacing, timing and space

  • explore how different resonant sounds can be used effectively together

  • bring greater responsiveness and intention into your own sound practice

You’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore the instruments for yourself and develop your skills through practical experience.

Confidence comes from experience.

Who this training is for

This training is designed for sound bath facilitators and sound practitioners who already have experience of facilitating sound for others and would like to continue developing their practice.

You don't need previous experience of hand gongs, bells or other resonant metal instruments, and all instruments are provided for you to use during the training.

If you've trained with The Sound Souls, this offers a natural opportunity to continue developing your practice. If you've trained elsewhere, you're also welcome, provided you already have an appropriate foundation in sound facilitation.
